Policies

Students

We expect all dancers to:

Respect all teaching staff. This includes listening when the teacher is speaking, not talking back, not talking during lessons unless asking a question and applying corrections/trying new suggestions positively, without hesitation.

Treat all other dancers as you would wish to be treated yourself. Support each other, don’t criticize. Encourage your fellow class members and be positive. Bullying in any form will not be tolerated. Also, do not correct other members of your class. You are not the teacher. Concentrate on your own learning and being a better dancer yourself!

  • Practice teamwork and fairness.

  • Be on time. In fact, be early. Arriving late to class is disruptive and disrespectful.

  • Be prepared. There are no excuses for coming to class unprepared. If you are unsure of uniform or     what is required for class each week, please ask.

  • Always ask for help if you need it.

  • Consistently try your best.

  • Dancers are required to adhere to our dress code.

  • Treat the studios, premises and possessions of all other dancers with respect and consideration.

Attend class every week unless with good reason. Regular class attendance is key to improving yourself as a dancer. For every class you miss, you effectively put yourself back a week in terms of training. Over time this can have a big impact on your overall standard

Parents

PARENT’S CODE OF ETHICS

The vision of dansko Studios is to inspire our students and nourish their creativity by  providing them with a combination of our professional, technical expertise and the strong passion and love that we have for dance.

I recognize the importance of dance in the lives of young people; I pledge that I will participate in my child’s dance activities in accordance with the following:

  • I will exhibit exemplary behaviour at the studio and at performances.

  • I will at all times control my emotions and will be considerate of all dancers and parents’ collective emotions.

  • I will not question the judgment of any faculty member or choreographer.

  • I will not make disparaging remarks of any type with regard to teachers, choreographers, choreography placement, costumes, other parents, other schools or publicly criticize them in the studio or course of any event.

  • I will support my child’s class, teachers, and choreographers and resolve to allow the teachers to manage their dancers and choreography as they feel best benefits the entire class.

  • Because I am a role model for my child, as well as the other dancers, my personal conduct at the studio, performances and other studio events must be above reproach, and represent the highest standards of morality, teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • I will encourage my child to the best of my ability at all times.

  • I will not make a judgment on my child’s performance and always will be there to support them.

  • I will never make a negative comment concerning other parents or their children, whether they are from dansko Studios or another school.

  • I will always applaud all dancers.

  • I understand that questionable and negative group chats with parents can provide miscommunication between parents and cause confusion for dancers. As this can be detrimental to my child's ability to be “coached”, I will direct all inquiries to dansko Studios Directors.

I accept this “Code of Ethics” and agree to conduct myself according to the principles and regulations of dansko Studios. I realize that my child or I may be removed from any dance event or from the studio entirely for failure to comply.
