Modern

pic-modernModern/Contemporary dance began in the 1900s. Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis and Mary Wigman decided that there was something missing in ballet. They wanted their dance to have an exciting twist. Therefore, modern dance was created. In 1930 modern dance arose in New York City with Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. Using basic movements such as breathing, release techniques and even human football was applied. Early Modern Dance or free movement dance is now classified as Contemporary Dance. The choreography is very diverse with a strong classical ballet influence it also includes the dynamic highlights and tricks of Jazz dance. The class includes a warm up, technique, progressions and exquisite choreography.
