jazz-classes-victoriaThe term “jazz dance” has been used to describe a forever- changing form of popular and creative dance movement since the 1920’s. Every era has a different style of jazz dancing. In the 1920’s it was Charleston and Black Bottom. Which moved on to the choreography and styles of Bob Fosse, Fred Astaire and Alvin Ailey. Some of the newest styles include thrash, pop, music video and contemporary. The common subject binding these obviously different styles together is rhythm that is composed in African influences. Jazz is a fun and fast moving class that focuses on developing style, and technique. The class includes a warm up, stretch and strength, turns, jumps and stylized choreography.
