COVID-19 Protocols

 

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain committed to doing everything we can to keep our dancers dancing and our community safe.

 

Below are the updated protocols and procedures we have in place for a safe return. 

 

Entering and Exiting dansko Studios 

 

All class times have been altered to ensure a safe flow of movement between dancers entering and exiting. Masks are required to dancers while lining up in the lobby.

 

dansko faculty will open the studio door a few minutes before class starts once the cleaning protocols have been done.  They will then sanitize each dancers’ hands before they are permitted to enter the studio.  Dancers will bring their bag and shoes into the studio to their designated spot.

 

Studio 1 Classes will enter through the side door to the left of the building.  

 

Studio 2 Classes will enter through the main entrance and follow the markings on the floor to their studio.

 

Studio 3 Classes will enter through the main entrance and follow the markings on the floor to their studio.

 

Saanich Commonwealth Place (SCP) Classes will enter through the main entrance and follow the markings to the dance studio.

 

*Any dancer who needs to switch to another studio will put on their mask, go through the lobby with their belongings and line up for their next class in the designated marked space.  

 

*Any dancer NOT required to switch studio’s, will remain in their studio and if necessary will be asked to assist with cleaning protocols.

 

Dancer’s Protocols

 

  • Do not arrive to class more than 10 minutes early.

  • Wear a mask when in the lobby.  

  • Line up for classes maintaining social distancing on designated 6 ft marked space.

  • Exit their studio through the outside door. 

  • Cell phone use will be prohibited during class time as devices are not always clean.

 

  • Water bottles will be kept with dancers’ bags inside their assigned space in the studio. 

  • Dancers will be assigned 1 bathroom only/studio.

  • Dancers are NOT permitted to attend class if they have flu-like symptoms.  Please email the studio.  The office will respond with a Zoom meeting link to watch the class.

  • Dancers may be required to wear a mask in class.

 

 

NO DANCER WILL BE PERMITTED AT DANSKO STUDIOS IF THEY OR A FAMILY MEMBER ARE NOT FEELING WELL.

 

 NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Lobby is Closed

 

To limit the number of people in our facility, parents will not be permitted in the lobby. 

 

The only exception to this is for parents of dancers in a Preschool Combo Class. (ie: Ballet/Jazz or Tap/Ballet/Jazz or Tap/Ballet/Jazz/Acro) 

 

These parents must wear a mask and be hand-sanitized before they walk their child into the studio where they can put them in their proper dance footwear and promptly exit through the outside studio door. 

 

Outdoor footwear must be removed prior to entering the studio.

 

Students who have a break between classes and are not able to be picked up, will be allowed to wait in the lobby however are required to wear a mask when not eating or are unable to social distance.

 

There are designated physical distancing spots for our dancers to sit during their break.   


Change Rooms Are Closed

 

All change rooms will be closed. Due to this, any dancers that have multiple classes back to back ie: Ballet and Jazz, please wear black bodysuit and ballet tights, and slip leggings on for the next class.

 

All personal belongings will remain in the studio with each dancer in their designated spot.

Physical Distancing

 

  • 1 teacher / 14 maximum dancers in Studios 2 & 3

  • 1 teacher / 18 maximum dancers in Studio 1

  • Staggered start and end times for each class to minimize social contact and to allow for enhanced cleaning procedures.

  • Dancers will be assigned their 6x6ft “box” on the studio floor.


Health Safety

 

All dancers will have their hands sanitized upon entering and exiting the studio.

 

dansko faculty will be wearing masks when they can not maintain necessary physical distancing. Records will be kept up-to-date and available to facilitate contact tracing. 

 

Dancers will be asked prior to entering the building to confirm that they are feeling well. 

 

 Dancers are not permitted to enter the building if:

 

  • they have flu like symptoms such as a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, cold or sneezing

  • they have been outside the country within 14 days prior to the class

  • they have been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19

 

 

If a child develops flu-like symptoms while in a dansko Studios class, the child will be removed from the class and other children and the parent or guardian will be notified to pick them up immediately.

 

*All touch surfaces and floors used by a person with flu-like symptoms will be cleaned and disinfected immediately.

 

If a faculty member develops illness while at work, they will immediately remove themselves from any contact with others, notify their dansko Director and go home.

 

*All touch surfaces and floors used by a faculty member with flu-like symptoms will be cleaned and disinfected immediately.

 

If a faculty member develops symptoms while not at work, they will be advised to contact Health Link BC at 8-1-1, and contact their dansko director. They will not report to work until it is safe to do so.

 

Any person connected to a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 will report the incident to health authorities, and follow the direction of Occupational Health and Safety and the Provincial Health Authority.

Cleaning Protocols

 

Anyone entering or exiting our dansko studios facility are required to have their hands sanitized and wear a mask if entering the lobby.

 

  • All studios will be disinfected/sanitized between classes ie: floors and all touchable surface areas.  

  • Touch points in all the bathrooms will be cleaned.  

  • dansko faculty are trained on necessary cleaning practices.
